FA LA LA LA LA December 23rd….and this show hasn’t done NEARLY enough Festive Caroling!!  DANNY THE ADULT MALE CAROLING ELF INTERN to the rescue!  Using his handy Times Colonist Christmas Light Tour Map, Danny took to the streets of Victoria wearing a bad Xmas sweater, Santa hat with reindeer antlers, Mistletoe necklace, and a festive stocking full of Christmas candies.  Look how much joy he brought to the staff of the Chateau Victoria, and the residents of Ponderosa Cresent and Alan Road in Saanich…because there’s nothing better than a random man with a sack on your lawn at 6 in the morning.  JOY…and good tidings!

There’s only a few more days until you need to have your gifts bought, wrapped and displayed nicely under the tree!  GAAAHHH!!!  CRISIS!!  Especially if you need a last minute gift for your special someone!  So once again, we turn to our friend ELLIOTT BYERS from CARROT RIVER SASKATCHEWAN for another episode of WHAT WOULD A SASKATCHEWAN GUY DO??

 Q: I need a last-minute gift for my girlfriend/ boyfriend…what would a Saskatchewan guy do?

 A:  “This is a great question, and spark plugs are a great gift….the gift of life. Plus, all you have to do is go out to the workshop to get them. I know it means you will have to install them on boxing day, but it beats hearing how you forgot Christmas again.  Just keep in mind that you did not have to go to the mall!. I have been known to give plastic wrap or tin foil for stocking stuffers. I know most guys would have  got her a half sack of Pil (Pilsner), but I learned my lesson at her birthday…..she does NOT feel it is the gift that keeps on giving. I disagree. Brian….if you were dating a Saskatchewan girl you would not need to worry about the last minute gift. Saskatchewan women have their gifts bought and wrapped by July first, and they would also have bought 3 or 4 extra gifts, just in case someone pops by.

More proof that love is blind – Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators.  Does this mean she’ll grow a playoff beard?

Sad news – she was only 32 and died of cardiac arrest on December 20th.  Here’s the song she did with Paul Okenfold called “Faster Kill Pussycat.”

WARNING:  DO NOT hurt your eyes on these photos!!  Brian’s BAD CHRISTMAS SWEATER PARTY on the weekend was a huge success.  The winner was TERRIANNE…the girl with the antlers.  It took her ”4 or 5″ hours STRAIGHT to MAKE IT!  Prize:  A GIANT TOBLERONE…and NOGTINIS for all.  JOY AND FESTIVE YULETIDE GREETINGS and such!!

Thanks to the generosity of people like YOU, we filled a 5 tonne truck with food, collected 225 Christmas turkeys, and raised $13,776 cash for people in need this holiday season.  Merry Christmas!

Thanks so much to everyone who came through HUGE this morning at the KOOL FM FOOD FOR FAMILIES FILL UP AT THRIFTY FOODS ADMIRALS WALK.  It all started with A-SPORTS ANCHOR MIRA LAURENCE and Mira and Robin’s trainer, ZEKE CABELL from COMPTON SPORTS TRAINING.  Mira and Zeke came by Thrifty’s first thing and filled the “SPORTY SPICE CART.”  Then Zeke made Mira, Robin and Danny the Intern do the KOOL MORNINGS WAKEUP WORKOUT until someone stepped up and bought the cart for $200!!!  GAH!!!  At first, we were scared for our lives…Zeke made Danny run around the store with a HARNESS ON!!  Luckily, KELLY AND RILEY came through HUGE and bought the cart in 10 minutes, saving us all.  Then the RUSH started…thanks to everyone who showed up with a donation this morning…special shoutouts to DARE FOODS for sending over 3 SUV’s full of food, an “ANONYMOUS” donation of $1000 from a lady and her husband who donate to the food banks each year instead of buying gifts for each other, and to LYNN and CAROLYN MCKEAN for coming and filling their own TEENAGER CART with the help of DANNY THE INTERN….because TEENAGERS ARE PEOPLE TOO!!!  CHEERS!!  Heart U ALL for making someone’s Xmas dinner this holiday season! 

It’s Day 4 of the KOOL FM FOOD FOR FAMILIES FILL UP AT THRIFTY FOODS ADMIRALS WALK (1495 Admirals Road)…and the 5 TONNE BUDGET TRUCK is ONLY HALF FULL!!!  GAHHHHHH!!!!  PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEE come by with a non-perishable food donation before tomorrow night at 7 so we can feed families in need here in Greater Victoria this Xmas!!  A big thanks to everyone who stopped by to donate this morning…including BRIN from BUDGET…who brought in $271.  HURRAH!!  Her reward was picking the food item in the store that she wanted DANNY THE INTERN to eat right there on the spot.  Brin chose the SARDINES we picked out as an option…which turned out to be a NIGHTMARE when Danny THREW UP in the Customer Service isle after only SMELLING them.  I guess he didn’t notice the garbage can we had ready for him.  Also, huge thanks to A-News Anchor HUDSON MACK for filling and BUYING his own “HUDSON MACK SNACK ATTACK CART worth $208, and to MAYOR DEAN FORTIN for filling and BUYING the FA LA LA LA LA LA LA FESTIVE FORTIN CART worth $130.  YAY!! Also, Robin’s self-proclaimed “biggest fan”  EUGENE stopped by to say hello.  Unfortunately, he was married….as usual.

It’s WEDNESDAY…which means we’re HALF WAY through the KOOL FM FOOD FOR FAMILIES FILL UP AT THRIFTY FOODS.  A BIG thanks to TIM and BRANDON from local band SANTA CLARA for stopping by, playing some Xmas tunes on site and filling the SANTA CLARA CLAUS cart for the Greater Victoria Food Banks.  Also thanks to Santa’s elves for dropping by (see photo below), and to our huge fan ASHTON (also shown below) for getting his mom and sister to come down with a donation.  PROBLEM:  we are NOT halfway to filling up the 5 tonne BUDGET truck in the parking lot!!  GAH!!!  It’s only 1 quarter full!!!  HELP!!!  Please drop off a non-perishable food donation at the ADMIRALS WALK THRIFTY FOODS (1495 Admirals Walk) between now and Friday at 7pm, or we’re NOT GONNA MAKE IT this year…and 7000 people in Greater Victoria will go hungry this Christmas.  NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Hope to see you tomorrow when HUDSON MACK from A-News and MAYOR DEAN FORTIN drop by the show.
